Liberty Counsel’s Agenda for 2010: Take Back America

In an email to members, the anti-gay, very powerful Liberty Counsel outlines its 2010 priorities. Perhaps this email would have been somewhat inspiring had it not been so misguided. It was Liberty Counsel that first sounded the alarm to dismantle California’s same-sex marriage law (and succeeded, by joining forces with local churches and non-profit organizations operating in the state). (previous story)
Kentucky’s Same-Sex Marriage Ban
Should the legislation filed by Mary Lou Marzian (D-Louisville), a Senior Representative in the Kentucky House of Representatives to repeal Kentucky’s ban on same-sex marriage, civil unions, and “similar institutions,” make it out of a House Committee, we’ll have one heck of a fight on our hands. (previous story)
There is little doubt that Liberty Counsel and the National Organization for Marriage would seek the help of the Family Foundation of Kentucky, and the American Family Association of Kentucky (Kentucky’s Chapter of the national American Family Association; which is supported and sponsored by Kroger) to air television and radio ads urging Kentuckians to “protect the family.”
You may ask….. protect it from what? That’s the question I have been asking over and over again, but should you doubt the homophobia of Kentuckians, all you have to do is review the press releases issued by Kentucky Equality Federation (official press releases) and Louisville’s Fairness Campaign (official press releases) this year. Both organizations fought battles for Kentuckian’s discriminated against.
The Family Foundation of Kentucky countered Kentucky Equality Federation and Marriage Equality Kentucky’s Marriage Declaration with the “Kentucky Marriage Movement,” even establishing a separate website for it.
The Liberty Counsel 2010 Agenda
Tony,
I hope you will allow me to share a few thoughts with you about the challenging year of 2010 lying just ahead…
We are DEEPLY concerned about the rise of divisive, statist power in our nation! Rather than the new era of transparency and bipartisanship the Obama administration promised, it is now clear that we are rapidly becoming “The Divided States of America.”
Never before has a minority party in our nation been so frozen out of the processes of government. And never before has the will of the American people been so marginalized and completely disregarded by those in political authority!
We ended 2009 in an intense battle with the socialists in our culture over the passage of the anti-life, anti-family ObamaCare legislation. We also finished the year engaged in several unresolved legal cases involving the ACLU.
In fact, Liberty Counsel’s litigation docket has never been more substantial. Our public policy activities and our education programs are busier than ever. Almost every measureable standard of our ministry’s activity nearly doubled in 2009!
When the ACLU trampled on religious freedom, Liberty Counsel came to the defense of three school officials in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The ACLU flew in their attorneys seeking to criminalize Christianity and sought to jail honorable men and women over a 15-second blessing for a meal. But, Liberty Counsel won the case and sent the ACLU packing. A revival-like atmosphere broke out in Santa Rosa County!
But, along with challenges, God brings even greater opportunities. The difference between adversity and opportunity is a dedicated Christian willing to be used by God. After all, nothing is impossible with God!
ONE VISION of America is to remake it into a weak, socialist government, with limited freedom, that is anti-life, anti-marriage, and pro-homosexual, and that apologizes for its heritage. But OUR VISION is to “Take Back America” by restoring freedom, individual responsibility, life, marriage, core values, sovereignty, and the recognition of our Christian heritage.
The Lord has blessed Liberty Counsel with many amazing victories and significant advances throughout the past year.
