A Morning Bainwashing

Oct 26th, 2010 | By | Category: Kentucky Guardian News, Viewpoints

If yesterday’s story scared you, these headlines are nothing short of crazy.

As the election nears, you can expect more and more of the same:

  • An employee with the liberal group Moveon.org was stomped on by a man wearing a “Rand Paul for Senate” T-shirt outside a televised debate in Lexington, Kentucky, Monday night, police said.   The incident took place before the debate between Republican Paul and Democrat Jack Conway. (story)
  • In Iowa, anti-gay organizations are trying to eliminate the Justices that voted in favor of Iowa’s same-sex marriage law.  (story)
  • Outside groups with undisclosed donors are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to influence Central Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District race between U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Versailles, and Andy Barr, his Republican challenger. (story)
  • The University of Michigan’s openly gay student government president dropped his request for a protection order against a lawyer on Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox’s staff. (story), (previous story)
  • There’s a sketch comedy show in the United Kingdom that sees lead actress Catherine Tate play the role of Derek Faye, a middle-aged man who lives with his mother and fumes with righteous indignation at the frequent assumptions by others that he is a homosexual.  His oft-repeated refrain: “Who dear? Me dear? Gay dear? No dear! How very dare you!” The line is delivered as he storms off with a leather clutch tucked under his arm, lips pursed, and in many cases carrying some form of subtly gay literature. (See an example on YouTube)

The insinuation is that Derek is, in fact, gay, but either won’t or can’t accept it publically.  A spokesman for Focus on the Family dubbed SpongeBob’s brief appearance in the 2002 “We Are Family” promotional video, “an insidious means by which the organization is manipulating and potentially brainwashing kids.” (story)
