Perhaps the vote of the LGBTIQ community is unimportant to Governor Beshear, or perhaps he needs the votes in Republican strongholds like Northern, Southern, and extreme Western Kentucky even though the bulk of the Commonwealth’s population resides in the Central Kentucky.

The Douglass Boulevard Christian Church in Louisville (Disciples of Christ) unanimously voted to end the practice of signing marriage licenses because they give legal benefits to heterosexual couples that are not available to homosexual couples.

Louisville Fairness Campaign and the Statewide Equality Coalition will begin working with Kentucky Equality Federation and vice versa according to a press release issued by Kentucky Equality Federation earlier today. This is the first time Kentucky Equality Federation has spoken about the Statewide Equality Coalition since its Board voted to withdraw.

The anti-gay marriage amendment in Georgia is unconstitutional per the Georgia Constitution, much the same way Prop 8 is unconstitutional and places the California constitution in direct contradiction with itself, this is proof that Kentucky’s Constitution does as well.

Despite a survey released by Kentucky Fairness Alliance, Lexington Fairness, Louisville Fairness Campaign, and the ACLU of Kentucky that support for gay and lesbian causes have grown in Kentucky, Kentucky Equality Federation disagrees because nothing has changed.

Republicans gain 10 new Governor’s Mansions, new seats in the Kentucky House, the Kentucky Senate, and take control of the U.S. House of Representatives. With such huge losses to conservatives, the gay military ban will remain in place, with no gay friendly legislation passing either the U.S. or Kentucky Houses or Senates.

On October 20th Louisville Fairness Campaign was quick to jump the gun and call two Louisville break-ins “hate crimes,” or at a minimum as a result of the people’s sexual orientation. On October 26th however, Louisville Metro Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on charges stemming from an October 20th break-in at his grandfather’s home in Crestwood.

Focus on the Family has a message for gay rights activists: stay off the playground. Candi Cushman, an education analyst for the James Dobson-founded group, told The Denver Post this weekend that gay rights advocates have inserted their agenda into anti-bullying efforts at the expense of “Christian values.”

The president of the anti-gay American Family Association of Kentucky, Dr. Frank G. Simon, is also in charge of the Louisville Tea Party, though not endorsed or recognized by the national Tea Party movement. Dr. Rand Paul, is scheduled to speak at Kentucky Freedom Fest 2010.
